Briggs Houze Adds New Housing Units to Greater Downtown

Posted: 06/07/16

Its spring and with the warm weather comes college graduations, new jobs and the downsizing of homes by new empty nesters. Many of them have one thing in common: a desire to live in one of the greatest cities on earth, Detroit, particularly in the Greater Downtown area. That can be tricky as developers strive to keep up with the demand. Currently there are close to 700 new residential rental units set to open in the next three years. Briggs Houze, developed by Joe Barbat, CEO and Chairman of Barbat Holdings, LLC is just one such development.

In 2014, Barbat began the massive task of redeveloping one of Downtown’s largest vacant multi-family buildings, the former Park Apartments. Built in 1937, the 17 story building located at 114 W.Adams, required over $6 million in improvements to create the complex now known as the Briggs Houze. The result is 18 floors of luxury housing with units ranging from 430 square feet studios to 1,130 square feet two bedroom apartments. Building amenities include a secured entrance to the building and elevators, community rooms with free Wi-FI, gated parking, state of the art bike stations, laundry facilities and more.  Interior design was completed by the highly regarded Detroit based firm dPOP! and IP service will be provided by
Rocket Fiber.

Currently Briggs Houze is pre-leasing with move in slated for later this summer. The property sits in the heart of the entertainment district steps away from the future Grand Circus Park M-1 RAIL, QLINE station, Tigers Stadium and more.
