Transit Riders United Regional Transit Awards Dinner

Celebrate Regional Transit Change Makers with TRU!
On Thursday, May 12 join Transit Riders United as they celebrate the region’s transportation change makers at the 2016 Regional Transit Awards. This year the event will be held at the beautiful Greektown Hotel. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m.
This fifth annual fundraising dinner recognizes the efforts of transportation advocates, professionals, legislators and businesses who have made exemplary contributions to improving access and quality of public transportation for Southeastern Michigan. This year’s awardees include
  • Transit Activist of the Year – Lisa Franklin, founder of Warriors on Wheels and former RTA board member.
  • The Exemplary Innovation Award – Wayne State University Office of Economic Development
  • Transit Employee of the Year – DeJuan Brown, DDOT bus driver and trainer
  • Unsung Hero Award – Joel Batterman, a creative dedicated advocate for improved transit.
  • Public Participation Progress Award – Detroit Department of Transportation

Be engaged and get informed! Join M-1 RAIL as we host the March Community Advisory Council Meeting Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Triumph Church’s East Campus. The countdown to M-1 RAIL passenger ridership is on and there will be some adjustments to how you navigate the corridor. Please join M-1 RAIL for an important community conversation to learn about QLINE operations, testing schedule and the launch of our public safety education campaign.

This special CAC meetings will cover driving, cycling and walking along the Woodward Corridor, as we all now share the road. There will be a light dinner served and children’s activities will be available. There will also be sign language interpretation services available for community members who are deaf or hard of hearing. This meeting is open to ALL.
